About Neighborhood House

Our mission

Neighborhood House builds community and increases access to housing, health, education, and economic opportunity.

Our vision
A healthy, diverse, and welcoming community, free of poverty and racism, where all people thrive.

Our work
Founded in 1906, Neighborhood House is one of the oldest social service agencies in the Puget Sound region. In response to a growing low-income community in 1941, we began providing self-sufficiency and support services for families moving to Yesler Terrace. In 1956, we became an independent nonprofit.

Today, we continue to provide these services to address the needs of entire families, with a focus on low-income community members, public housing residents, immigrants and refugees. We serve over 15,000 people annually through our major program areas of early learning, youth education, family and social services, employment and adult education, health, and housing stability.

About Our Youth Engagement Program

We partner with our young people and their parents and guardians, schools, as well as community organizations to provide the best services possible. We provide free academic assistance and engaging enrichment activities that focus on building community and positive identity in out-of-school time.

Enrollment will be on a case-by-case basis, dependent on initial assessment.  Please connect with our youth engagement coordinators for enrollment forms.

Our community partners include:

Auburn School District, Best Starts for Kids, Highline School District, King County Housing Authority, King County Library System, Schools out Washington,  YMCA, and YWCA.
